Following England footballer, Marcus Rashford’s work to inspire the Government to fund free school meals for children during the summer holidays, Oberoi Consulting has decided to renew its Breakfast Club campaign.

The scheme, funded through local business, will provide children across Derby access to free breakfasts. Kavita Oberoi, owner of Oberoi Business Hub, first instigated the scheme after being astounded by how many children go to school without food across Derby. The aim of the Breakfast Club is to ensure no child in Derby goes to school hungry.

Breakfast Club has previously proven to be very well received and attendedRecognising the importance of breakfast to start the day effectively, teachers saw improvements in children’s behaviour, attendance, morale and overall educational attainment.

Velez Managed Services are delighted to be supporting this vital campaign by sponsoring 20 children for the Breakfast Club scheme. With many families facing financial difficulties, particularly due to the COVID-19 crisis, we know just how important it is to back appeals like this and ensure families are supported and children across Derby have access to free meals when they return to school in September.

“I’m very proud Velez are getting involved in the Breakfast Club project. It's so important children have access to free breakfasts before school and families/working parents are supported during these challenging times. We hope to see many other local businesses getting involved in the scheme.”
