What is CSR?
CSR means Corporate Social Responsibility and is a business’ way to deal with sustainable improvement by delivering economic, social, and ecological advantages. CSR is significant as it shows that you are a business that investigates more extensive social issues, instead of just those that impact the profit margins, which will draw in clients who share similar values. Therefore, it makes good business sense to operate sustainably. Being a socially responsible company can support a company’s picture and build its brand.
As a company, we provide a CSR policy and make sure we continuously update it with new initiatives. We cover recycling waste bins all over our offices and tend to raise awareness in developing countries like Kosovo. We are a paperless company and avoid cutting trees as much as we can to be environmentally friendly. We use telecommuting at its best to communicate, share videos, and other fun things we find on other sources. Except for Office 365, we use Microsoft Teams and Zoom to stay engaged.
We as Velez are very keen on keeping equal rights as a priority. Our people feel very comfortable and have been giving us great feedback on this. We achieve doing this by treating each other as our friends no-matter if the other person is a team member, customer, or a dedicated citizen. We do celebrate each national holiday no matter of religion our people belong to.
Within our company, we operate in open offices, all with the same supplies no matter the hierarchical level. We are building a culture within the workplace, so everyone feels equal and has the freedom of expressing themselves without hesitating to any of the management staff. We hold one to one meeting with staff so we can understand their issues or if there is something concerning any of the team to be able to help.
We are proud to maintain an almost 50-50% state of gender equality considering every level of the hierarchy, aiming to provide a cover of activities starting from comfortable office seating, health insurance, health, and safety set, to four out of city trips per year. Thinking of employees in the same way—as customers—may similarly improve both key business outcomes and employees’ experience.
How we have helped in the past
We ensure that we take action on the charity side of CSR on monthly basis. We helped many families in poverty by providing them with food, clean water, clothes, and all the necessary stuff for them to be healthy. We believe that every little bit helps, and we want to make a difference in the lives of individuals around us as much as we can. We have also helped many children in schools with equipment, so they have the right to education, learn the basics skills, gain knowledge, and develop their talents. Worth mentioning is the England footballer, Marcus Rashford’s work to inspire the Government to fund free school meals for children during the summer holidays, Oberoi Consulting has decided to renew its Breakfast Club campaign. Our company was delighted to be supporting this vital campaign by sponsoring 20 children for the Breakfast Club scheme. With many families facing financial difficulties, particularly due to the COVID-19 crisis, we know just how important it is to back appeals like this and ensure families are supported and children across Derby have access to free meals when they return to school in September.
Hence, Velez being conscious of the need for waste management and the protection of the environment through powerful waste administration strategies we decreased paper and plastic waste. We have introduced into our offices’ recycling bins divided into general, metal, plastics, paper, and aluminium. We know that if we reduce, reuse, and recycle we are helping the environment heal. Therefore, we have created our mini-campaign on Breast Cancer Awareness, as we try to promote as much as we can as a company and try to keep our employees equal.
Our company’s main saying is: Doing Right by the Customer, First Time, Every Time.
